There are many simple garden ideas one can implement that will make your home more beautiful outside, increase the appeal and value of your home, provide natural habitats for wildlife, create an area for you to relax, save you money, and even provide you with fresh, naturally organic, home grown very "locally grown" food!!

A tree always adds beauty to a home's landscaping. A "shade" tree, strategically placed in your yard can even save you money by cutting cooling costs by up to 40%. If it's a fruit tree, such as an avocado tree, it can provide you with delicious, naturally organic, home grown food for a lot less money than buying organic. 

As the tree grows, it adds a great habitat for birds and other wildlife while adding great curb appeal and increasing the value of your home. 

Create a "Butterfly Garden"

A butterfly garden will add color and beauty to the outside of your home while providing food and shelter for butterflies and their eggs. Great project to do with children. Get started today on your butterfly garden! 

Plant an Edible Garden

"Victory gardens" are making a comeback in a very big way. "Food not lawns" is the mantra of this growing movement. By planting veggies, herbs, and other edible plants, including edible flowers, you not only save money on your grocery bill but you save on your water bill as well. Edible plants usually require a lot less water than water guzzling lawns.

Plant Native and drought tolerant Plants

For a very low maintenance, yet beautiful garden, plant native and drought tolerant plants. In Southern California many native plants are drought tolerant. This saves you time in watering and on your water bill. Many dorught tolerant plants, such as Rosemary and Sage are also very edible and quite tasty!

Create an "Aquatic Garden"

An aquatic garden can be as fancy as a pond or as simple as a water garden in a pot AKA "patio pond". All you need is water and aquatic plants. Plus there are edible aquatic flowers and plants as well! You don't have to worry about watering it (just adding water as need be), and you provide a lovely water source for bees, butterflies, birds and all wildlife!
